# CHEQUE.IO — Roadmap

## Purpose
Documents planned features and the development direction of CHEQUE.IO.

## Current Version: 1.0.0

## Planned Features

### Near-Term (v1.1)
- [ ] **CSV Export**: Download all issued cheque records as a CSV file for import into Excel or accounting software
- [ ] **JSON Export/Import**: Export records as JSON and re-import to restore data or migrate to a new device
- [ ] **Theme Persistence**: Save dark/light preference to localStorage
- [ ] **Additional Bank Templates**: Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, Punjab National Bank, Bank of Baroda
- [ ] **Status Update UI**: Click-to-update status from Pending → Printed → Cleared / Bounced

### Mid-Term (v1.2)
- [ ] **Bulk Print Mode**: Select multiple cheque records and print in sequence
- [ ] **Cheque Void Marking**: Mark a cheque as VOID with reason, keep in log for audit
- [ ] **Signature Slot**: Optional signature image overlay on print layout
- [ ] **Multi-Drawer Support**: Manage multiple bank accounts/cheque books in one instance
- [ ] **Search and Filter**: Full-text search across payee names, cheque numbers, and remarks

### Long-Term (v2.0)
- [ ] **PWA Offline Support**: Full service worker implementation for offline-first capability
- [ ] **PDF Export**: Export cheque layout as PDF instead of browser print dialog
- [ ] **Cloud Sync (Optional)**: Opt-in encrypted sync to user-controlled cloud storage (Google Drive, OneDrive)
- [ ] **QR Code on Cheques**: Print QR code linking to payment reference
- [ ] **Tally XML Import**: Import issued cheque list from Tally ERP XML export

## Non-Goals
The following features are explicitly out of scope:
- **Payment processing**: CHEQUE.IO is a printing and logging tool, not a payment gateway
- **Bank API integration**: No direct connection to bank systems
- **Multi-user collaboration**: CHEQUE.IO is a single-user tool; multi-user requires server infrastructure
